StopBadware inducted in Google's Engine

Google Inc, the company which openly mentioned its corporate punch line as "Do No Evil" is fighting the Evil companies by Issuing a Warning as shown above in its search results. Now if you still want to access the website thinking your Windows Service Pack or Anti-Virus will protect you, Google doesn't let you go directly. It issues another WARNING and asks you to visit the site at your own risk. Yahoo! and MSN Search engines can neither detect it, nor issue a warning.

This is a direct effort of Google and other companies who together formed StopBadware campaign because of Microsoft's inability to protect its own customers.

Sunsilk GangOfGirls venture into Music, TV and Jobs

India's number one Social networking website, Sunsilk Gang of Girls has quietly launched whole new set of features for its members.

Some of the features that we reviewed and are really cool are the Astrology, Rhythm Lounge, Gang of Girls TV - GoG TV, and Hot Jobs. The Astrology section is powered by Astrolife and Jobs section is powered by Monster.

Can you imagine that this social networking site which boasts of half a million users has become the most popular platform amongst college girls in India ? Unilever's competitor, P&G has also launched a portal for Indian Girls, BeingGirl. However, when other social network startups like MingleBox and SaffronConnect are finding it hard to catch up with GangofGirls, BeingGirl maybe very soon shutdown.

Google Search Engine, Orkut and AdWords localized

Google's VP for Asia-Pacific and Latin American operations, Sukhinder Singh Cassidy unveiled Google's plans for India.

After major Telcos, its time for Google to embrace the Rural Indians. Google plans to offer Weather Updates, Crop Patterns and other local data. Cassidy also said,
How to make the search engine simpler and uncomplicated is a big challenge, but we will have an answer soon.

Google also plans to localize its Social Networking website, Orkut in Indian languages. Also integrate Google Talk with Orkut and a mobile interface [SMS] since mobile is the most popular platform in India. Just about when the GSM service providers are planning to unite to form a common mobile advertising platform in India, Google has said that it will launch AdWords advertising for the mobile platform.

Google - News in Hindi

Google is leaping ahead of Yahoo! and Microsoft in India as well. Just last week they launched Blogger Transliteration in Hindi and today they have unveiled a Hindi News aggregation service for 1 Billion Indians.

Google news in Hindi is a product of Google's Bangalore Lab. Google's crawlers, crawl the entire web to gather news in Hindi from different publishers and rank them based on the Page Rank algorithm. If you are an original blogger in Hindi and and can produce original content, you can also add your blog to Google news and increase your readership.

Microsoft took almost 5 years to launch Hindi version of Windows and still aren't serious about the Indian market while Yahoo! India is busy plagiarising content from Bloggers in India.

Web 2.0: Rating and Reviews

Most of the Web 2.0 was dominated by Yahoo and I am not sure why was it so. Yahoo! may have just launched the Context Ads system - Panama, but they have some interesting web properties like Answers and Review/Rating [R/R] platform for the following
  • Y! News and
  • Yahoo! Local with Maps integration and Yahoo! Travel
  • Yahoo! Shopping and
  • Yahoo! Games and Talent Shows.
Yahoo's R/R platform spans across 5 continents with close to 5,000 requests a second and 50 Million rated objects with 200 Million ratings. This data is also used by recommendation engine, reputation modeling and review quality. The Review and Rating platform is usable by others through APIs.
