| Intel and NIIT launches multi-core training curriculum |
|
Intel and NIIT announced the launch of multi-core training curriculum that has been developed jointly and will be deployed by the company, globally. The company, in association with its training partners will offer the Intel multi-core training curriculum to the software developer community, globally.
The multi-core training curriculum offers basic and advanced training - from an initial overview of multi-core, to a working experience of parallel programming, including the intricacies of multi-threaded programming and performance optimization. This is really important in Web 2.0 where Search and Multimedia are CPU intensive and are served by massively parallelled computers from a Grid.
The curriculum has been designed to empower developers with key diagnostic skills and specialized threading tools which will allow rapid deployment of correct and efficient parallel applications.
This global launch is an important element in Intel's over-all initiative to prepare the software industry for multi-core programmers and the company's mission of global talent development. |

| Nivio Software As a Service or a Joke ? |
|
I was excited about this company called Nivio which has developed Windows as a software service. From their website,
What is Nivio ? Nivio is a fully functional Windows desktop environment accessible via a web browser through any Internet connected device running on any platform (including Linux, MAC and Windows).
Nivio enables a user to seamlessly access the desktop data & applications when and where they need it; be it at the office, from home or even on the go.
I question the security and stability of Nivio system. I had signed up to test for Beta and then guess what, they created a flawed mailing list in which anybody replying to "nivians@nivio.com", the e-mail was sent to all the folks in the list. My Inbox was filled with more than 50 crap mails and of course some spammers took advantage of this.
Nivio's CEO, Mr Sachin Duggal has appologised but still their e-mail system is not fixed. |

| Google AdWords - Placement Performance Report |
|
If you are a Google AdWords customer, then their is a reason to smile :-). Google under increasing pressure from Advertisers, who shell out their money has introduced a new feature - "Placement Performance Report". What is Placement Performance Report ?
- This will let you as an advertiser view where your Ads appear and how they perform on different websites
- This will give greater control for you as an Advertiser to filter out sites where you don't want your ads to appear.
- Provide site-by-site performance metrics – including domain, URL, impression, click, conversion and cost data – as well as aggregated metrics for traffic generated from AdSense for domain sites
- This has also solved another problem - AdSense Arbitrage Publishers. For Example, consider this worthless website which was surviving on AdSense Arbitrage. As a AdSense Publisher I had banned their Ads on my Website. Now as an AdWords Publisher you can filter this website from displaying your Ad. This effectively means an end to AdSense Arbitrage Brokers.
- Placement Performance Report will offer Advertisers greater control and transparency which means more effective Online Advertising Campaign.
NOTE: This will put to end Spam Page Websites. Also smaller original publishers maybe under threat if AdWords publishers don't want their Ads to appear on those websites.
